The Mechatronic Engineering Society (or TronSoc for short) was once one of UOW’s largest engineering groups, peaking at around 400 members in 2018. Membership fell sharply in 2019 and ultimately hit zero in 2020 as COVID‑19 halted in‑person events and project work. Now, we’re rebuilding with a fresh start and renewed energy.

This year, student Adem Benton re-founded the club and begun the process to rebuild the club to its former glory! Through a small and fresh team, the club was able to host events such as Arduino workshops, Workshop tours and O-week events. This year also marked the first major project for this generation of the club, the Lunar Rover!

This year was a slow year for us, we spent most of the year designing, manufacturing and building our first competing rover! Alongside the rover we constructed a weather monitoring system and participated in the EmpowerHER summit and got invited to the International Astronautical Congress to show off our club and meet some amazing industry professionals!
